Fox 05+ Toyota Tacoma 2.0 Performance Series Snap Ring IFP Coilover Shock - Front / 0-2in Lift (Part #985-62-011)
Your Tacoma Deserves Better Than Mushy Stock Shocks
Let me guess. You got a Tacoma. You love it. But the stock suspension? It is soft. It dives when you brake. It bottoms out on whoops. You feel every bump in the road. And if you put a bumper, a winch, or even a heavy load in the bed? Forget it. The front end sags like an old horse. This is the Fox 2.0 Performance Series Coilover. Part #985-62-011. Front. Fits 2005 and newer Tacomas with 0 to 2 inches of lift.Fox knows suspension. These are not fancy remote reservoir shocks for trophy trucks. These are the workhorses. The 2.0 series is the sweet spot between price and performance. You get real Fox engineering without spending $3,000 on a full race setup.
Why Snap Ring?
The snap ring is your ride height adjustment. The coilover body has grooves cut into it. You move the snap ring up or down to raise or lower the spring perch. This changes your lift height. Want 1 inch of lift? Put the ring in the 1 inch groove. Want 2 inches? Move it down. You decide. No guessing. No buying different springs.
What Is IFP?
IFP stands for Internal Floating Piston. Inside the shock, there is a piston that separates the oil from the nitrogen gas. This keeps the oil from foaming. Foamy oil = no damping. No foamy oil = consistent damping. That means your shocks work the same at mile 1 and mile 100. Cheap shocks do not have this.
What Is Not Included?
Important: This is just the shock. The coil spring is not included. You reuse your factory springs or buy aftermarket springs (like Eibach or OME). Fox sells the 2.0 as a "coilover" meaning the shock body has the spring perch built on. But the spring itself is separate.
Features & Benefits
2.0 Inch Aluminum Body: Strong. Light. Dissipates heat better than steel.
Snap Ring Height Adjustment: 0 to 2 inches of lift. Easy to adjust without special tools.
Internal Floating Piston (IFP): No oil foaming. Consistent damping.
Vehicle Specific Tuning: Fox tuned these valving for the Tacoma. Not a universal shock.
Rebuildable: When they wear out, you can rebuild them. Cheap shocks go in the trash.
Made in the USA: Fox still builds these in America.
Lift range: 0 to 2 inches of front lift. Pair with rear lift (add-a-leaf, leaf pack, or blocks) to level the truck.Does NOT fit:

Any other vehicle
What Is In The Box?

FAQ
Do I need to buy springs separately?Yes. This is just the shock. You need coil springs. You can reuse your factory springs if they are in good shape. Or buy aftermarket springs from Eibach, OME, or Fox. Will these fit my 2023 Tacoma? Yes. Fitment goes up through 2023. Same chassis. How much lift will I get? You decide. The snap ring allows 0 to 2 inches of lift. Set it at 0 for stock height. Set it lower on the body for more lift. Do not exceed 2 inches with these shocks. If you want 3 inches, you need longer shocks and upper control arms. Are these better than Bilstein 5100s?Both are good. Bilstein 5100s are great for the money. Fox 2.0s are a step up. The Fox has an aluminum body (lighter, cools faster) and is rebuildable. The Bilstein is steel and not rebuildable. Fox rides better on high-speed stuff. Bilstein is firmer. Can I install these myself?Yes, if you have mechanical skills. You need spring compressors (the coil spring is dangerous). You need basic hand tools. You need an alignment after install. Budget a full day for your first time. Do I need new upper control arms (UCAs) with these? At 0 to 1.5 inches of lift, stock UCAs are fine. At 2 inches, you should get aftermarket UCAs. The stock arms will hit the coil bucket at full droop. Camburg, Total Chaos, and JBA make good ones. Will these work with my factory springs?Yes. Factory springs fit on the Fox 2.0 coilover body. But factory springs are soft. If you have a heavy bumper or winch, buy stiffer aftermarket springs. How often do I need to rebuild these?Fox recommends rebuilding every 40,000 to 50,000 miles for street use. For heavy off-road use, every 20,000 miles. Rebuild kits are available. Any shop that does dirt bike shocks can rebuild Fox 2.0s. Do I need to buy two of these?< Yes. One for driver side. One for passenger side. This listing is for a single shock. Add two to your cart. Will these work with a lift kit?Yes. These are the lift kit. They replace your factory coilovers. Remove the old ones. Install these. Set the snap ring to your desired height. Get an alignment. Are these good for off-road?Yes. Better than stock. But they are not remote reservoir shocks. If you do high-speed desert running for hours, you want Fox 2.5s with reservoirs. For fire roads, trails, and daily driving, these are perfect. What is the difference between "Performance Series" and "Factory Series"? Performance Series (these) are Fox's aftermarket line. Factory Series are what comes on TRD Pro Tacomas from the factory. Factory Series have more advanced valving and sometimes DSC adjusters. Performance Series are simpler and cheaper. Both are good. Will these level my Tacoma? Yes. Tacomas have a factory rake (front lower than rear). Set these to 1.5 or 2 inches of lift to level the truck with the rear. Measure your truck before and after.
