There's a reason track-day riders keep talking about the Q5S. Dunlop didn't just tweak the old Q3+, they pulled straight from what they've learned building tires for the MotoAmerica road race series and folded that knowledge into a tire you can actually run to the shop, then straight onto a track without changing a thing. That's the whole point of this fifth-generation Sportmax: no compromises between street manners and track-day grip.Pick it up and you'll notice the tread first split down the middle, with a longer-wearing silica compound running through the center and stickier stuff out at the shoulders. It's a simple idea (Dunlop calls it MT Multi-Tread) but it solves a real problem: you don't want a tire that wears out from cruising in a straight line, and you definitely don't want one that goes vague the second you lean it over. This one holds up going straight and bites hard once you're carving.Warm-up is fast, too; the tread pattern is tuned to get heat into the rubber quickly, so you're not white-knuckling the first few laps or the first few miles on a cold morning waiting for it to come in. And because the compound and shoulder design were softened up compared to earlier Sportmax tires, wet grip doesn't fall off a cliff the way it can with more track-focused rubber. The shape helps, too. Dunlop's Intuitive Response Profile gives the tire a taller build with tapered sides, which translates to quicker, more natural turn-in — the bike wants to tip into a corner rather than resisting you. It's fully D.O.T. legal, so this isn't a tire you need tire warmers for or one you have to swap out before the ride home.
What makes it work:
Dual-compound tread for long life down the middle and serious grip at the edges. A softer polymer blend that stays planted in the wet. A tread pattern built to warm up fast. And a profile shaped for sharper turn-in — without making the bike feel nervous mid-corner.

All five sizes share the same radial construction and blackwall sidewall — the fitment just scales up with your bike's power and rear wheel width. Not sure which one's yours? Check the sidewall of your current rear tire, or your owner's manual, for the matching size code.
