Dunlop Sportmax GPR-300 — Front Tire (120/70ZR17 M/C 58W TL)

A straightforward front tire that gives a planted, predictable front end for street-focused sport riding. The 120/70ZR17 (58W) GPR-300 is a tubeless radial built to warm quickly, steer light, and hold confident grip in wet or dry pavement — without demanding constant replacement.

Key Benefit

Steady front-end grip that lasts. The GPR-300’s silica-blend compound and modern tread pattern help the front warm and stick while still delivering strong mileage for everyday use. That balance keeps steering feeling crisp on canyon runs and secure on wet streets.

Compatibility

  • Size: 120/70ZR17 M/C (58W) TL — front, tubeless radial.
  • Load / speed: 58W — load index 58, speed rating W. W-rated sizes are specified by retailers and Dunlop as the high-speed rating version for this size.
  • Recommended rim width: 3.50–3.75 in (check your wheel spec). Dunlop’s technical data lists this rim range for the 120/70ZR17.
  • Maximum reported load/pressure figure from Dunlop’s data: 520 lb (≈236 kg) at 42 psi. Match load rating to your motorcycle’s spec.
Always confirm your bike’s OEM tire size and recommended pressures before ordering.

Installation

  • Mount with the rotation arrow pointing forward. The tread is directional.
  • Replace the valve stem when you fit a new tire. Clean the bead seat and use proper tire lube. Balance the wheel after mounting.
  • Cold pressures: follow your motorcycle manual. Dunlop’s maximum-load figure is given at 42 psi in its tech table, but that is not the recommended running pressure for your bike — use the manufacturer’s cold-pressure spec.
  • Break-in: ride gently for the first 50–100 miles to scrub off the factory release and let the tire bed in before leaning hard.

Who This Is For

  • Riders who want a predictable, confidence-building front for street sport riding.
  • Commuters who still like to push through twisty roads on weekends.
  • Owners of small- to mid-displacement sportbikes that run a 120/70 front and prefer longer wear than a soft, race-focused front.
  • Not for riders seeking ultra-sticky track rubber — it’s engineered for street balance first.

FAQs

Is this a tubeless tire?
Yes — the 120/70ZR17 GPR-300 is tubeless (TL).
What does 58W mean?
58 is the load index; W is the speed rating. The W-rated front is specified for higher speed capability than lower-rated versions — match or exceed your bike’s requirements.
What rim width should I use?
Dunlop lists 3.50–3.75 in as the recommended rim width range for this size. Check your rim spec before ordering.
Do I need to balance the wheel?
Yes. Proper balancing prevents vibration and keeps steering precise.
How should I break in a new GPR-300 front?
Ride gently for the first 50–100 miles. Avoid hard braking and aggressive lean-in until the surface is scrubbed.
Will this give good wet grip?
Yes. Dunlop engineered the GPR-300 with a silica-blend compound and tread that help move water away from the contact patch, improving wet traction for street conditions.

  1. David Grimes –

Sport riding on a budget doesn’t get much better than the GPR 300. Excellent corner feel and tons of grip on backroads.

  2. Hunter Hammontree –

Very impressed with the feedback this tire gives. It warms up fast and holds the line right where you put it.

  3. Dhiraj Bora –

Great value sport tire. Not as sticky as the premium compounds but way more affordable and it still handles great.
