BikeMaster 525x150 BMZR Z-Ring Chain

This is the longer BMZR option for riders who’ve run out of adjustment or are dealing with a setup that needs extra chain to work correctly. The BikeMaster 525x150 BMZR Z-Ring Chain is typically used on higher-output street and sport bikes with gearing changes, extended swingarms, or wheelbase setups where a standard 120-link chain just isn’t enough.

Intended use and fitment

A 150-link chain isn’t something you choose by accident. It’s usually needed when sprocket sizes, axle position, or wheelbase length push adjustment past what shorter chains can handle.Common situations where this length makes sense:

Stretched swingarm setups
Larger rear sprockets or gearing changes
Builds where axle blocks sit near the end of their range

Even with extra length, proper matching still matters. Pitch, link count, and power output should always be confirmed before installation.

Why the BMZR Z-Ring design works here

On longer chains, internal wear shows up faster if sealing isn’t doing its job. That’s where the Z-Ring setup earns its place. The seal shape keeps factory grease around the pins while limiting contamination, which helps slow wear under load.In regular use, a few practical things stand out:

Z-Ring seals help the chain hold lubrication longer
Larger pins distribute load better during hard acceleration
Heat-treated steel plates resist stretch on high-torque bikes
Adjustment stays more consistent between checks
Rivet-style master link is better suited for longer, higher-load chains

This is the kind of chain chosen to avoid premature stretch, not to chase specs.

Materials and build quality notes

BMZR chains use high-tensile steel components with controlled heat treatment to balance strength and long-term wear. That balance becomes more important as chain length and load increase. When installed on healthy sprockets and kept aligned, these chains tend to wear gradually rather than stretching early.

Installation and safety considerations

This chain must be correctly matched to the motorcycle’s power output and drivetrain setup. Incorrect sizing or improper installation can lead to chain failure, which may cause serious injury or damage. If you’re not experienced with cutting, riveting, and setting final drive tension—especially on longer chains—installation should be handled by a qualified technician.

FAQs

Is this one product with two finish options?

Yes. Black/Chrome and Black/Gold are finish variations of the same 525x150 BMZR chain.

Why would I need a 150-link chain?

Extended swingarms, sprocket changes, or wheelbase adjustments often require additional chain length.

Does the finish affect durability or strength?

No. Finish is visual only.

Can the chain be shortened if needed?

Yes. Links can be removed using proper chain tools and correct riveting procedures.

What type of master link is included?

A rivet-style master link is supplied.

Is this suitable for high-power street bikes?

Yes, when correctly matched to the bike and installed properly.

150 links was the right length for my custom build. Z-ring sealing is top notch lube stays in the rings.

Very happy with this chain. Smooth, quiet, and it’s showing very little stretch after a few thousand miles.
