Kuryakyn Universal Helmet Lock Chrome Mount Options (Part #4232)

Stop Carrying Your Helmet Like A Suitcase

You know the scene. You park your bike. You take off your helmet. Now what? You carry it with you? You set it on the ground? You hang it on the mirror like a rookie? The ground is dirty. The mirror scratches the inside padding. Carrying it around is a pain in the neck. This is the Kuryakyn Universal Helmet Lock. Clamps onto your handlebars or frame. You hook your helmet D-ring onto it. Lock it. Walk away. Comes back. Helmet is still there.

Two Sizes. One For Thin Bars. One For Thick Bars.

We got two different clamp sizes. Measure your bar before you buy.

Part #	Finish	Clamp Range	What Fits
4618	Black	7/8" to 1-1/4"	Most handlebars, sissy bars, passenger grab bars
4232	Chrome	1-1/4" to 1-1/2"	Thicker frames, engine guards, crash bars

7/8" to 1-1/4" (Black) – Part #4618: This is the one for most handlebars. Stock Harley bars? 1 inch. Most metric cruiser bars? 7/8 or 1 inch. This fits.1-1/4" to 1-1/2" (Chrome) – Part #4232: This is for thicker tubing. Engine guards. Crash bars. Sissy bar uprights. Thick frame rails.

Why Two Finishes?

Black blends in. Chrome stands out. Pick whichever matches your bike. Black on a blacked out Dyna. Chrome on a classic Heritage Softail. Your call.

Where Do You Mount This?

Anywhere you have a round tube. Handlebars. Passenger grab rail. Sissy bar. Engine guard. Crash bar. Frame rail. Get creative. Just make sure the helmet hangs somewhere it will not hit the exhaust or get hit by the wind.

Features and Benefits

Universal Clamp: Fits round bars from 7/8" to 1-1/2" depending on which size you buy.
Locking: Keep your helmet safe. Not Fort Knox safe, but safe enough that a thief will move on to an unlocked helmet on the next bike.
Two Finishes: Black (4618) or Chrome (4232).
Easy Install: Clamp it on. Tighten two bolts. Done.
Kuryakyn Quality: Made by people who actually ride motorcycles.

Vehicle Fitment

Universal fit. Any motorcycle, scooter, or even bicycle with a round tube in the right size range.Measure your bar. Use a caliper or a crescent wrench. If your bar is between 7/8" and 1-1/4", buy the black one (4618). If it is between 1-1/4" and 1-1/2", buy the chrome one (4232).If you are not sure, buy the smaller one (7/8-1-1/4). It fits most handlebars. The bigger one is for thick crash bars and frame rails.

What Is In The Box?

One helmet lock. Clamp. Locking mechanism. Two keys. Mounting hardware.

FAQ

Which one do I need for my handlebars?

Most handlebars are 1 inch (Harley) or 7/8 inch (metric). Buy the black one (4618) fits 7/8-1-1/4. That covers you.

Which one do I need for my engine guard?

Engine guards are usually thicker. 1-1/4 inch or bigger. Buy the chrome one (4232) fits 1-1/4-1-1/2.

Is this actually secure?

It is a lock. It keeps honest people honest. A thief with bolt cutters can cut the helmet strap. A thief with a wrench can unbolt the lock. But most thieves are lazy. They will take the unlocked helmet off the mirror before they mess with this. It is better than nothing.

Will this scratch my bars?

It has rubber or plastic inserts inside the clamp. That protects the bar finish. Do not over-tighten it. Snug is fine.

Can I mount this on my sissy bar?

Yes. Sissy bar uprights are usually 1/2 inch to 1 inch. Buy the black one (4618). Works perfect.

Will this fit my passenger grab rail?

Yes. Grab rails are usually 7/8 or 1 inch. Black one fits.

How many keys come with it?

Usually two. Small keys. Do not lose them. Maybe make a copy at a hardware store.

Can I lock any helmet with this?

Any helmet with a D-ring strap. Most full face and modular helmets have D-rings. Some cheap half helmets have snap buckles. Those will not work. You need the metal D-ring.

How do I lock it?

Put the D-ring over the post. Push the lock cylinder in. Turn the key. Pull the key out. That is it.

Will this fit my sport bike?

Yes. Clip it onto the passenger peg bracket, the frame slider, or the handlebar. Find a tube. Clamp it on.

What is the difference between the black and chrome besides color?

The clamp size range is different. Black fits 7/8-1-1/4. Chrome fits 1-1/4-1-1/2. Read the size chart. Do not buy based on color only.

I have a 1-1/8 inch bar. Which one fits?

The black one (4618) fits up to 1-1/4. So yes, it fits. The chrome one starts at 1-1/4. That would be too tight.

Can I mount this upside down?

Yes. Mount it so the helmet hangs where you want it. Just make sure the helmet does not touch the exhaust pipe. Burnt helmet stinks.

Is this lock weatherproof?

It is fine in rain. Keep the key hole greased once a year. Do not let it rust solid.

Will this work on a Victory or Indian?

Yes. Universal. Same as Harley. Same as metric. Find a tube. Clamp it on.

Why would I buy this instead of using the built-in helmet lock on my bike?

Some bikes do not have built-in locks. Some have them in stupid places (under the seat, behind the license plate). This puts the lock where you want it. Easy to reach. Easy to use.
