You built a big twin. Maybe 95 inches. Maybe 103. Good compression. Runs like a beast. But starting it? That is a different story. The starter labors. The battery drains. Hot starts are a nightmare. You have been there.S&S fixed that problem a long time ago. This is the 570GE Easy Start Cam Kit. Part #106-5243. Fits 1999 to 2006 Harley-Davidson Twin Cam Big Twins .It wakes up the motor without killing your starter and battery. And it is a gear drive. No timing chains. No tensioners. Just gears that mesh and stay in time forever.

How Does Easy Start Work?

The cam has a special lobe inside. When you hit the starter, it lifts the exhaust valve slightly . That lets compression bleed off while cranking. The starter spins freely. The battery does not get hammered. Once the engine fires and RPM climbs, the lobe retracts by centrifugal force. The engine runs with full compression. No power lost. No performance sacrificed .S&S tested these for 10,000 starts without running the battery down . That is confidence.

Why Gear Drive?

The stock Twin Cam timing chains stretch. Tensioners wear out. Plastic pieces break. It is a known problem. This kit replaces all of that with gears. Four gears. Inner gears. Outer gears. No chains. No tensioners. No worrying about plastic breaking and sending debris through your oil pump .Timing stays dead on. Always. Valve timing accuracy is greatly improved .

FAQ

Do I need high-lift valve springs?
Yes. The 570GE requires high-lift springs. Installer must also check coil bind, valve-to-valve clearance, and valve-to-piston clearance .
Will this make my engine louder?
 Gear drives produce more valvetrain noise than chain drives. That is normal. If you hear clicking below 900 RPM, adjust idle speed to 1000-1100 RPM .
Does this kit come with everything I need?
 Yes. Complete gear set, installation hardware, bearings, and gaskets .
Will this fit my 2006 Street Glide?
Yes. 2006 Street Glide is listed as compatible . The exception is 2006 Dyna models.
Why gear drive over chain drive? 
Gear drives eliminate timing chain lash. No tensioners to fail. Timing stays accurate forever .

    Dropped in the S&S 570GE gear drive cam kit in my ’03 Road King and it transformed the bike. The gear drive eliminates the chain tensioner worry entirely. Peace of mind alone is worth it. But the power gains are real too. The bike pulls harder through the mid-range and the sound is incredible. My riding buddy noticed the difference before I even told him about the upgrade. S&S quality is as good as advertised. Best performance mod I’ve done to this bike.

    Threw this SS Cycle Easy Start cam in my ’02 Softail and the low-end torque increase is immediately noticeable pulling away from a stop. Gear drive setup runs quieter than I expected and eliminates any chain slap you get with some other cam kits. My mechanic said the machining quality was excellent and everything degreed in exactly to spec. Idle sounds a bit more aggressive too, which I like. Six months of riding and the bike pulls harder through the whole rev range without giving up any reliability. Great cam for a street bike.
